On Thursdays, the United Stated Department of Agriculture (USDA) donates fresh produce for Pickens County residents to pick up at the Carrollton Service Center from 8 a.m. until the last box is gone.
“We come to Carrollton, but we have partnered with different churches and other organizations that also take it into the community and make sure that the home bound people can get it,” Director Janice Jones said. “We do the senior sites, they come and get boxes and take it to the senior sites. We’ve got churches that take it into the community and we’ve got fire departments that take it back to their community and other organizations that come and get it and take it back to their community.”
